How it works
There are two ways this live sync can be set up depending on your fulfilment flow:
1. On Hold Method (Recommended for stock-managed brands) This setup allows Linnworks to reserve stock as soon as an order is placed. While the order is on hold, Order Editing can still read and apply customer edits. Once changes are made, Linnworks recalculates the stock in real time, releasing or reserving inventory accordingly.
Perfect for merchants with high turnover products, pre-orders, or large warehouse operations where inventory accuracy is everything.
2. Delayed Capture Method If you prefer not to hold stock immediately, delayed capture lets Shopify handle the payment hold period before Linnworks downloads the order. During this time, customers can make edits through Order Editing, and once the payment is captured, the finalised order is synced to Linnworks with the correct quantities.
Both setups prevent overselling, reduce fulfilment errors, and ensure your warehouse team are always picking from an accurate live stock position.
