Recharge

Recharge is a Shopify subscription platform used to manage recurring orders. Order Editing integrates directly with Recharge, allowing customers to manage eligible subscription orders safely without causing conflicts with fulfillment or billing.

Integration method required: Create a Recharge API token and enable the Recharge integration in Order Editing.

How the Integration Works

When the Recharge integration is enabled, Order Editing can read Recharge subscription orders and determine whether an order is eligible for editing.

What this enables

  • Customers can edit eligible Recharge subscription orders from the Shopify Order Status page

  • Only the features you explicitly enable are shown to customers

  • Subscription data remains consistent between Recharge and Shopify

  • Customers can:

  • Cancel a single order

  • Cancel future subscription deliveries

  • Pause or manage recurring deliveries

  • Reschedule upcoming deliveries

What this prevents

  • Customers cancelling an order and assuming the entire subscription is cancelled

  • Conflicts between Recharge subscription terms and Shopify behaviour

  • Unauthorized access to Recharge subscription data

  • Additional CX and support work caused by unclear cancellation flows

Once enabled, customers with Recharge orders will automatically see additional Order Editing options on the Order Status page based on what you have enabled in the integration settings.

Recharge Subscription Modules

Order Editing exposes three independent Recharge subscription modules. Each module, when enabled, unlocks a specific customer-facing control on the Shopify Order Status page.

You can enable these modules individually, depending on how much control you want to give customers.

1. Subscription Rescheduling

Setting: Enable subscription rescheduling

What this does

When enabled, customers see a “Reschedule your next delivery” section.

This is the only module that introduces a new calendar-based UI.

Customer experience

  • Customers select an upcoming delivery

  • A calendar appears

  • Customers choose a new delivery date

  • The delivery is rescheduled in Recharge

Important notes

  • This does not change the current order contents

  • It only affects the selected future delivery

  • This is not a toggle, it is a dedicated rescheduling flow with a calendar

If this module is disabled, the reschedule section does not appear at all.

2. Subscription Cancellation

Setting: Enable subscription cancellation

What this does

When enabled, customers see toggles inside the Cancel Order flow that control whether future subscription deliveries are cancelled.

This module does not create a new section. Instead, it adds additional intent-based controls to cancellation.

Customer experience during the edit window

When cancelling an order, customers can:

  • Cancel the current order only

  • Toggle Cancel recurring subscription deliveries to also cancel future orders

  • Toggle OFF:

  • Cancels only the current order

  • Subscription remains active

  • Toggle ON:

  • Cancels all future subscription deliveries in Recharge

If this module is disabled, customers can only cancel the current order and cannot affect future subscription deliveries.

3. Subscription Reactivation

Setting: Enable subscription reactivation

What this does

When enabled, customers can reactivate a previously cancelled Recharge subscription from the Order Status page.

Customer experience

  • Appears inside Manage recurring deliveries

  • Allows customers to restart a cancelled subscription

  • Does not affect completed or locked orders

If this module is disabled, cancelled subscriptions cannot be reactivated by the customer.

How the Modules Work Together

Each module is independent and produces a specific customer control:

  • Rescheduling → Adds a calendar-based reschedule section

  • Cancellation → Adds toggles inside the cancel flow

  • Reactivation → Adds restart controls inside subscription management

Nothing is bundled. Customers only see what you explicitly enable.

Behaviour Outside the Edit Window

Once the Order Editing window ends:

  • Edit shipping address and Cancel order are locked

  • Recharge modules may still appear if enabled

  • Reschedule your next delivery

  • Manage recurring deliveries (pause or reactivate)
