How to Update Your Order Confirmation Email

Step-by-Step Instructions:

1. Access Shopify Notifications

  1. Go to Shopify Settings

  2. Click Notifications

2. Open Customer Notifications

  1. Locate Customer notifications section

  2. Click Order confirmation

3. Edit the Email Code

  1. Click Edit code button

  2. This opens the email template editor

4. Locate the Order Button

Find the existing button copy in the template. It typically says:

  • "View your order"

  • "View order status"

  • Or similar phrasing

Tip: Use Ctrl+F (or Cmd+F on Mac) to search for "View your order" to find it quickly.

5. Change Button Text

Change the button text from: “View your order” to “Edit your order”

Why this matters: Changing "View" to "Edit" immediately signals to customers that they can make changes, not just look at their order

6. Add Editing Period Copy

  1. Locate the existing copy near the button (usually above or below it)

  2. Click at the end of the current paragraph

  3. Press Return/Enter to create a new line

  4. Add the following HTML code:

<p><b>You have x amount of time to edit any last minute changes to your order<p><b>

Optional - Add additional context

7. Save Changes

  1. Click Save at the top right

  2. Your Order Confirmation email is now updated!

  3. Use Shopify's "Revert to default" if needed, then re-apply changes
