"This Goes With That" is a flexible upsell strategy that allows you to place product recommendations anywhere on your Thank You and Order Status pages with full size and position control. It's ideal for merchants who want more design flexibility than the standard Primary Upsell carousel provides.

Important: Cannot Be Used With Primary Upsell
"This Goes With That" Upsell Offer replaces the Primary Upsell carousel. These two features cannot be used together—you must choose one or the other.

Setting Up "This Goes With That" Upsell Offer
Step 1: Create Your Upsell Strategy
Navigate to Upsell Strategies in your Order Editing dashboard
Click Create New Strategy
Select "This Goes With That" Offer template
Follow the prompts to configure your strategy (see examples below)
Click Save
Step 2: Add Block to Thank You Page
Go to Shopify Settings > Checkout
Click Customize (for your active checkout configuration)
Navigate to the Thank You Page tab
Click Add Block
Select "Personalised Upsell" from Order Editing
Note: The block will not populate or show content—this is normal
Position the block where you want it to appear on the page
Customize in Block Settings (see Best Practices below):
Adjust sizing and aspect ratio
Click Save
Step 3: Add Block to Order Status Page
While still in Checkout customization, navigate to the Order Status Page tab
Click Add Block
Select "Multi Currency Offers" from Order Editing
Note: The block will not populate or show content—this is normal
Position the block where you want it to appear
Customize in Block Settings:
Adjust sizing and aspect ratio
Click Save
Note: If you don’t add these blocks to the checkout, the strategy will populate in the form of a Primary Upsell carousel.
Best Practice: Adjust Block Size
Default Size Issue
The upsell block loads at a very large size by default, which can overwhelm the page and look disproportionate.
Recommended Solution
Reduce the block size using aspect ratio settings:
Select the upsell block in your checkout customization
Locate Aspect Ratio settings
Change to 3:1 ratio (or similar)
This creates a wider, shorter display that fits better on the page
Test different ratios to find what works best for your design
Alternative ratios to try:
3:1 - Wide and compact (recommended starting point)
4:1 - Even wider, very compact
2:1 - Balanced width and height

1. Set Your Rules (Triggers)
Define when the upsell appears
Common rules:
Order value thresholds - "Order total is greater than $X"

2. Choose Product Module
Select which products to display
