How to Set Up Recently Viewed Product Upsells

Showcase products customers browsed but didn't purchase as upsell offers during checkout and post-purchase. Capitalizes on demonstrated interest with personalized recommendations.

Conversion insight: Customers already showed interest in these products - reminding them creates a second chance to convert.

How it works:

  1. Customer browses your store and views specific products

  2. Customer doesn't purchase those products

  3. Customer adds different product to cart and proceeds to checkout

  4. Recently viewed products appear as upsell offers with your custom messaging and discount



Step-By-Step Guide

Step 1: Create Upsell Strategy

  1. Go to Order Editing > Upsell Strategies

  2. Click Create Upsell Strategy

  3. Navigate to Product Modules section


Step 2: Add Recently Viewed Module

  1. Click Add Product Module

  2. Select Recently Viewed Products

  3. Click Add


Step 3: Install App Embed (Required)

This step enables tracking of customer browsing behavior.

  1. In the Recently Viewed module settings, click Install App Embed

  2. You'll be redirected to your Theme Customizer

  3. Toggle the Order Editing App Embed to ON

  4. Click Save

What this does: Allows Order Editing to track which products customers view and serve them as upsell offers.


Step 4: Configure Strategy and Create Rule

Optional rule:

  • Add a rule to control when this strategy appears (e.g., all orders, specific products, order value thresholds)

Optional offer text:

  • Headline: "Still interested?"

  • Sub-headline: "There's still space in your package"

Optional discount:

  • Add 10% discount with custom offer code to incentivize conversion

Click Save and your strategy is ready.
