Quantity Edits

Conditionally allow customers to add/decrease their product quantities.

How it works

Order Editing is a Shopify app that provides customers with the ability to make changes to their orders, including changing the quantity of items they have purchased. The quantity change feature allows customers to increase or decrease the quantity of items in their order after checkout, subject to certain conditions.

Here's how the quantity change feature works:

  • When a customer places an order on your store and uses the Order Editing app, they will receive an email with a link that allows them to edit their order. When the customer clicks on the link, they will be taken to the Order Editing app where they can make changes to their order, including the quantity of items.

  • If the customer increases the quantity of an item, the app will automatically check whether the new quantity is available in your store's inventory. If the new quantity is greater than the available inventory, the app will prevent the customer from increasing the quantity any further.

  • If you have enabled downgrades in your store, customers will be able to decrease the quantity of an item in their order.

  • If you have enabled the inventory limit feature in the Order Editing app, customers will be limited to increasing the quantity of their order up to the maximum inventory currently available on your shop. This helps to prevent overselling and ensures that your store's inventory is accurate.

Note that the quantity change feature is just one of the many features offered by the Order Editing app. With Order Editing, your customers can also add or remove items, upgrade or downgrade items, and add notes to their orders. These features give your customers the flexibility they need to make changes to their orders even after they have completed checkout, helping to improve customer satisfaction and reduce the number of support requests you receive.

Increasing product revenue

Enabling Order Editing is a useful feature for online store owners, as it allows customers to increase the quantities of the products they purchased in their order. This feature provides a convenient and flexible shopping experience to customers, increasing customer satisfaction and loyalty.

When customers have the option to increase their order quantities, it also leads to increased revenue for the store owner. Customers may decide to purchase additional items, resulting in higher sales and profits. Additionally, if the store offers free shipping for orders over a certain amount, the ability to edit orders can help customers reach that threshold and qualify for free shipping.

However, as the customer increases the product quantities in their order, the overall shipping costs could increase as well. In this case, Order Editing can dynamically calculate the pricing difference for the customer, and they can decide whether to proceed with the order changes or not.

Enabling Order Editing improves customer satisfaction, increases revenue, and provides a more immediate and convenient shopping experience.

Inventory comparisons

You can disable inventory comparisons if you want customers to increase or decrease product quantities without having the app verify if there is enough inventory to fulfill the order. This should be disabled for stores that are comfortable delaying the fulfillment of orders until more product inventory arrives or shops operating on a pre-order model to fulfill product orders for their shop.
