Increasing or decreasing product quantities

Offering a gift card instead of a refund has several advantages for Shopify merchants. First, it reduces the fees associated with refunds, which are typically charged by payment processors such as Shopify Payments or Stripe. These fees can range from a few cents to a percentage of the transaction amount, depending on the processor and the type of transaction. By offering a gift card instead of a refund, you avoid these fees altogether.

Second, offering a gift card helps retain customer loyalty and encourage future purchases. When a customer receives a gift card instead of a refund, they still have the opportunity to shop on your store and use the gift card towards a future purchase. This helps keep the customer engaged and prevent them from seeking out other retailers.

Finally, by using Order Editing to offer gift cards instead of refunds, you simplify your accounting and bookkeeping. Refunds can be complex to track and manage, especially if you have a high volume of transactions. By issuing gift cards instead, you remove the refund from your books altogether, making it easier to manage your finances and track your revenue.

To take advantage of this feature, you can enable gift card refunds in your Shopify store settings and integrate Order Editing with your store. When a customer downsizes their order, Order Editing automatically generates a gift card for the cost difference, which the customer can use towards a future purchase on your store.
