Global-E

Overview

Global-E is an international e-commerce platform that handles cross-border transactions. Global-E orders do not work with Order Editing and must be excluded from the editing process.

Integration method required: Exclusion Rule (Global-E orders cannot be edited)

Why Global-E Orders Cannot Be Edited

Global-E processes international orders differently from standard Shopify orders. Due to the way Global-E handles currency conversion, duties, taxes, and international shipping, these orders are not compatible with Order Editing's post-purchase modification features.

How to Handle Global-E Orders

To prevent issues, you must configure Order Editing to exclude all Global-E orders from the editing workflow.

Setting Up Global-E Exclusion

Step 1: Create an Exclusion Rule

  1. Navigate to your Order Editing settings in Shopify Admin

  2. Go to the Rules section

  3. Create a new rule to exclude orders with specific tags

Step 2: Configure the Tag-Based Exclusion

Set up a rule with the following condition:

Condition: Order tag contains "Global-E"

Action: Do not allow editing

This ensures that any order tagged with "Global-E" will not be presented with editing options to customers.

Step 3: Verify Global-E Tagging

  1. Place a test Global-E order

  2. Check that the order is tagged with "Global-E"

  3. Verify the order is excluded from editing options

Important Notes

  • Global-E orders are NOT compatible with Order Editing

  • All Global-E orders are automatically tagged with "Global-E"

  • The exclusion rule prevents customers from seeing edit options on these orders

  • This is the only supported configuration for Global-E

Key Configuration Notes

  • **Do not attempt to edit Global-E orders** - they are not compatible

  • **Configure** exclusion rule based on the "Global-E" tag

  • **Customers** with Global-E orders will not see edit options

  • **Standard** domestic orders will continue to work normally

Testing Your Configuration

Required Tests:

Before going live, test the following to ensure Global-E exclusion works correctly:

Test 1: Global-E Order Exclusion

  1. Place a test order through Global-E

  2. Verify the order is tagged with "Global-E"

  3. Attempt to access order editing as a customer

  4. Verify that no editing options are available for this order

Test 2: Standard Order Still Works

  1. Place a standard (non-Global-E) order

  2. Verify editing options are available

  3. Make an edit and confirm it processes correctly
