What is Post-Purchase Upsell Discount?

Post-Purchase Upsell Discount allows you to offer discounts on products that customers can add to their order during the editing window. You can set a store-wide discount (Global Discount). This discount will not affect any discounts shown on your store front. If you have enabled a higher discount on your store, we will natively display this instead of the set global discount.

How This Setting Works with Promoted Collections

This setting works together with Promoted Collections, and the behaviour changes depending on whether Promoted Collections is enabled:

Promoted Collections ON:

  • Customers browse only your promoted collection

  • The Global Discount applies to all products in that collection

Promoted Collections OFF:

  • Customers can browse your entire store catalog (minus Hidden Products)

  • The Global Discount applies to all browsable products

How to Set Up Post-Purchase Upsell Discounts

Setting a Global Discount:

  1. Navigate to Settings in your Order Editing dashboard

  2. Scroll to the Post-Purchase Upsell Discount section

  3. Locate the Global Discount field

  4. Enter your discount percentage (e.g., 10 for 10% off)

  5. Enter 0 if you don't want a store-wide discount

  6. Click Save

Many successful merchants use this approach:

Setup:

  • Promoted Collections: OFF

  • Global Discount: 0%

  • Individual Product Discounts via set Upsell strategies

Result: Customers can browse your entire store and add any product they realise they forgot.

Why this works: It gives customers the ability to add products they realised they missed post-purchase, while enabling you to strategically discount select products.
