Shipping Cost Recalculations

What is Shipping Cost Recalculations?

Shipping Cost Recalculations automatically updates shipping costs when customers make changes to their orders that affect shipping. This ensures customers are charged the correct shipping amount based on their final order.

We strongly recommend keeping this setting turned ON for all merchants.

When enabled, shipping costs automatically adjust when customers:

  • Change quantities - Adding more items may increase shipping costs

  • Update shipping address - Changing location may affect shipping rates

  • Reach free shipping threshold - Adding items that qualify for free shipping removes the shipping charge

  • Add or remove items - Changes in order weight or size affect shipping

Without this setting, Customers could be overcharged or undercharged for shipping, leading to revenue loss or customer dissatisfaction.

How to Enable Shipping Cost Recalculations

  1. Navigate to Settings in your Order Editing dashboard

  2. Scroll to the Shipping Cost Recalculations section

  3. Make sure "Enable Shipping Cost Recalculations" is ON

  4. Click Save

If you only want to recalculate free shipping, and not when other changes to shipping is made, you can do this by toggling on “Only re-calculate when free shipping eligibility changes.”

  • Check only domestic shipping methods

  • International orders won't have shipping recalculated during edits

  • All orders can have shipping recalculated during edits

Minimum threshold

The Minimum Threshold enables you to set a minimum required difference in shipping before you charge customers the difference.

How this works:

If you've set up a minimum threshold as $5, customers will only be charged the difference if it is greater or equal to $5

When to use: If you want to improve customer satisfaction, and don’t mind paying additional in shipping charges

Free Shipping Preview

The Free Shipping Preview section shows your store's free shipping threshold, if you have one configured.

You will need to select which shipping methods are eligible for free shipping in the “Search shipping methods” dropdown box.

What You'll See:

If you've set up a free shipping threshold in your Shopify store (e.g., "Free shipping on orders over $50"), it will automatically appear here in the Free Shipping Preview.

Third party free shipping: If you are using a third party system for free shipping, you will need to do a test order to ensure our app is reading this correctly. If we are not, you will need to input this threshold into your Shopify Settings.
