Same-Day Shipping Rules
What are Same-Day Shipping Rules?
Same-Day Shipping Rules ensure that Order Editing respects your same-day shipping cutoff times. If you advertise same-day shipping on your website or have internal cutoff times for fulfilment, these rules prevent customer edits from delaying orders past your shipping deadline.
Why This Matters
Without Same-Day Shipping Rules, a customer could edit their order right before your cutoff time, potentially missing the same-day shipping window. These rules protect your shipping promises while still allowing edits when there's enough time.
Example: If your same-day shipping cutoff is 12:00 PM and your editing deadline is 30 minutes, an order placed at 11:45 AM would normally be editable until 12:15 PM—missing your cutoff. If you decide to start packing an order during the customer editing period, you may miss any changes they make. A Same-Day Shipping Rule prevents this by disabling edits for orders placed close to your deadline.
How to Set Up Same-Day Shipping Rules
Follow these steps to create a rule that honors your same-day shipping cutoff:
Navigate to Settings in your Order Editing dashboard
Locate Same-Day Shipping Rules
Click Create New Rule
Add a condition:
Select Time Window as your condition type
Set your time window:
Start time: Your cutoff time minus your editing deadline
Example: If cutoff is 12:00 PM and editing time is 30 minutes, set start time to 11:30 AM
End time: Your actual cutoff time
Example: 12:00 PM
Set the action:
Select "Users can't edit their order"
Click Save Rule
Example Setup
Your scenario:
Same-day shipping cutoff: 12:00 PM
Standard editing deadline: 30 minutes
Your rule:
Time window starts: 11:30 AM
Time window ends: 12:00 PM
Action: Users can't edit their order
Result: Orders placed between 11:30 AM and 12:00 PM go straight to fulfilment without an editing window, ensuring they ship the same day
