Pre-Order Order Editing
What is Pre-Order Order Editing?
Pre-Order Order Editing allows customers to edit orders that contain pre-order products. Without this setting enabled, customers won't be able to make changes to orders with pre-order items.
When to Enable This Setting
Enable Pre-Order Editing if your store:
Sells pre-order products (items not yet released or in stock)
Offers early access or pre-launch purchases
Takes advance orders for upcoming inventory
Disable Editing features
When a customer places a pre-order, the editing period has an opportunity to extend longer than usual since these orders don’t need to be fulfilled immediately.
As a best practice, we recommend allowing customers to make simple changes, such as updating their shipping address, up until the fulfillment date, while disabling more complex edits like Upselling.
You can easily manage this in Shopify Flow by using set tags to control which types of edits remain available.
Shopify Flow Example:

How to Enable Pre-Order Editing
Navigate to Settings > Pre-Order Editing
Toggle "Enable Pre-Order Editing" to ON
Click Save
Navigate to Shopify Flow
Disable relative features
Click Save
Important: This setting must be enabled for customers to edit any orders containing pre-order products.
